LA FESTA DELLA DONNA
In Italy, it is traditional to give a mimosa bud or small bouquet to women on March 8. This tradition is not considered as a romantic gesture but one of solidarity. It has its roots in post-World War II when Italian feminists chose this flower as a symbol for strenght and as a tribute to the women who had played vital roles during and after the war.
The mimosa may seem like a delicate flower, but it is in fact very resistant and can grow almost anywhere. It blooms in Italy and France from January to March. Follow "la route du Mimosa", which starts west of St Tropez, in Bormes-les-Mimosas and ends in Grasse. 130 km of fluffy yellow blossoms and an enchanting fragrance.

MOTTO

One of my favorite quotes is "Låt mig verka medan dagen brinner". It comes from a poem by the sculptor and author Ruth Milles (1871 - 1941), sister of the famous Swedish sculptor Carl Milles. Freely translated into English it would be something like "Let me work while the day burns". To me this is not "Carpe diem" but a reminder to use your energy and live life as fully as possible. Create the day instead of seize the day.
The quote - which became Carl Milles' motto in life - meets you as you enter the metal gate of the beautiful museum Millesgården at Lidingö, outside Stockholm. It is also made into a trivet, that can be found in the museum's shop.

A very dear friend of mine bought this one for me earlier this year and it inspires me every day as I look at it.
